Part 1 — An Overview of Indonesia’s Natural Disasters Trends and Insights Over the Last 21 Years

Over the last 21 years, the global climate has rapidly changed, leading to significant impacts on global conditions such as temperature, sea level, wind speed, and more. Additionally, global weather has become increasingly unpredictable, directly increasing the likelihood of natural disasters, such as droughts, wildfires, landslides, tornadoes, and more. Can we mitigate the economic and social impacts of natural disasters by analyzing their historical data? Is it possible to prioritize regions within a country based on their vulnerability to natural disasters? In this short article, we will begin our observation in Indonesia and attempt to gain insights from historical data for future mitigation.
